I go in for some surgery and wake up to find one of my all time favorite reportsers passed away, Tim Russert. I thought I was devistated when David Bloom died a few years ago. So sad.
I'm sure Jake will post the poop story later today. Even though he wasn't here, I think my text to him eplained it all. I hope he leaves me with some dignity and leaves you with a laugh.

Today and Tomorrow
Today, Jake and I were back over in Tampa for some more pre-op work. After my appointment we decided to walk over to Dr. A's office (about a block away from where we were) and see if we could meet with a nurse or P.A. to answer some additional questions we had. As we approached the back door of the building and entered, guess who was coming right at us? Dr. A. I have to say this must have been Devinne intervention because this is a HUGE medical complex with thousands of employees. What are the odds? We stopped to talk with him and he said he would be happy to speak with us and to meet him down in his office. Five minutes later we were in a conference room and he spent at least 20 minutes going over things with us. At my original appointment he had mentioned a 20 year old girl who had recently had the same surgery I'm about to have and had recovered beautifully. I asked if he would pass on my number to her because I thought it would be helpful to speak to someone who had gone through the surgery. By the time we arrived back home, Dr. A and Stephanie (the 20 year old) had both left messages.
I called Stephanie back and we had a nice conversation. She speaks beautifully. She has just started the same chemo and radiation I did three years ago so I answered her questions about that and she answered mine about he surgery. It's all still scary, but I feel so much better now.

Valentine's, New Pictures
Today's rainy weather gave us the perfect opportunity to stay in and make our Valentine's. I spent most of the morning watching TV and cutting out hearts so when Nathan got home from school we could get to work.
Jake and I had a conversation last night about a Vermont Teddy Bearr commercial we had seen. The commercial shows a guy sitting at his desk at work when he notices on his calendar that the next day is Valentine's Day. With few clicks of his mouse he orders a bear online and when his girlfriend receives the bear the next day at her office all the women come running over to check it out and ask her how she found a man so thoughtful! It was really cheesy. I don't think we have ever exchanged gifts on Valentine's Day or our anniversary. Well, one year Jake gave me a gift certificate to the spa for our anniversay and I was so mad. It always stinks when someone comes baring gifts and you are empty handed. February 1st was our 11th anniversary (HOLY SMOKES) and we vowed to continue the no gift giving theme. It works for us. Although, I might expect something "sparkly" on our 25th or 50th! Anyone else do no gifts for Valentine's and/or anniversary?
Oh, and I'm flying high with Obama's recent wins! I am for the first time in my life enjoying politics. It was my New Years resolution in 2007 to pay more attention. It was grooling early on to not fast forward the polical segments of the Today Show, but now I catch myself watching CNN and MSNBC to to hear the latest on the election. To go along with my 07 resolution Jake gave me the Everything American Government Book, which I've been toting around here and there reading when I can...so nerdy! I have to catch up on all those social studies classes I snoozed through!

Obama Momma

Never have I even considered donating to a presidential candidate, however, tonight after watching Obama's speech in VA. I coudn't fall asleep without showing my support. I am truly inspired and so hopeful about our future.

1 Year, 20 Years, and VOTE
This morning it dawned on me that Jake and I met 20 years ago this month. It was January 1988 and I had been uprooted from my very comfortable life as a 9th grader in Alabama to move to Florida. I was not happy. Within my first few days at my new school I met Jake, a skinny, red-head who was dating a very cute cheerleader. The first time I laid eyes on him I remember thinking, "What does she see in him?" (Jake loves it when I tell that story). By 10th grade we were inseparable. I've known him longer than I haven't known him. I love that.
I started blogging a year ago. What an addiction! I was a lurker at Jen's blog for years (she's one of the reasons moving in 1988 was so hard) before I took the bait and started my own. It sure is catchy.
I don't know what it is, but I'm totally into the Presidential Election. Politics has always been a bit of an afterthought for me, but I can't seem to get enough election news. Can hardly wait to cast my vote! Still need help making up your mind, go here.
