Celebrity Doc

The same two doctor's who performed my DIEP breast reconstructive surgery last February:

"A Twin's Healing Gift" in People Magazine (12-18-2006)Read how Dr. Robert J. Allen and a team of surgeons reconstructed Naomi Whinnie's breasts using tissue donated from her twin sister.

Dinner and a Movie

Nathan and I headed to the dentist last week where he once again made the "No Cavity Club". It's very cool, he goes with the hygienist all by himself while I head the other direction with another hygienist and we meet up when we're done. So independent! Afterwards, we met Jake at the Melting Pot for dinner. Nathan had been asking to go to a "fancy" restaurant and we figured since we didn't have Reese with us we would indulge him. We made a pit stop at Yankee Candle where they know Nathan by name and he picked out another candle for his "collection". Not sure where he got his candle fetish........oh, don't worry we never light his, only mine. Dinner was great and Nathan did a good job trying some foods he doesn't normally eat. A big deal for a five year old.

We never watch movies anymore, but this weekend we went all out and watched the World Trade Center, The Lake House and Pulse. I love a good horror flick, but Pulse didn't do anything for me. My good friend Jennifer brought over The Devil Wears Prada, which I hope to watch before it's due back. Seen any good movies lately?

Birdhouses

Kids made the cutest birdhouses today.

Gran to the Rescue

Somehow this morning I thought it would be a good idea to walk instead of drive to go to the community playground a mile and a half away. I sold the kids on the idea and we headed out, Nathan on his bike, Reese in the stroller and me on foot. The weather was beautiful and it felt good to be outside. Nathan struggled toward the end and I began to wonder how I was going to get him to ride all the way home. Thankfully, Gran stopped by to play on her way to the grocery store and we hitched a ride home from her. Not sure we'll try that again any time soon unless I have backup forces prepared to rescue us.

Anniversary Cruise

Hubby and I just booked a cruise for our 10 year anniversary coming up. We've never been on a cruise and thought this would be a perfect occasion to leave the kids with Gran and Nana and try it out. I can hardly wait!

Underwear Party

Goodbye Pull-ups hello underwear.... say a prayer for the couch!

Vision of a Passing

Thursday morning I find myself thinking of a man I used to work with about 11 years ago. I ran into him roughly 3 years ago while I was at my oncologist office for a check-up. Turned out he had a cancer on his leg that had spread to his lungs. He said to me, "I'm terminal". He couldn't have been more than 50 years old at the time. I haven't thought of him since, but I just couldn't get him out of my mind Thursday morning, wondering how he was and if he'd made it. I found myself sitting down to check the local obituaries on-line..........I found him. He died, Monday, January 15, 2007, just 3 days before. Why would I have thought of him after all this time?
